Coverage question guide

Egypt Travel Insurance Guide

This is a checklist of questions to ask your insurer. It is not financial advice, a policy recommendation, or a universal coverage level.

Last checked: 2026-08-13. This guide is decision support, not a provider directory, ranking, financial product recommendation, ticket marketplace, live price, or booking guarantee.

Medical

Medical treatment and evacuation questions

  • Ask how emergency treatment, hospitalization, outpatient care, medical evacuation, repatriation, prescriptions, pre-existing conditions, pregnancy, and post-travel symptoms are handled.
  • Ask whether the insurer needs pre-authorization and what documents or receipts are required.
  • Use Egypt Travel Health for health preparation; do not rely on insurance copy for medical advice.

Trip disruption

Cancellation, interruption, baggage, and electronics

  • Ask what counts as covered cancellation, trip interruption, missed connection, delay, baggage loss, baggage delay, passport/document loss, and electronics damage or theft.
  • Ask whether separate receipts, police reports, airline letters, provider cancellation proof, or original purchase evidence are required.
  • Domestic flight delays, cruise disembarkation, rail delays, and road-transfer disruption should be discussed before buying coverage.

Activities

Activity-specific coverage questions

  • Ask specifically about diving, snorkeling, boat trips, desert travel, hiking, Mount Sinai/Saint Catherine-style mountain travel, balloon activities, quad/buggy activities, and Nile cruises.
  • Confirm depth limits, certification requirements, operator requirements, equipment exclusions, alcohol exclusions, weather cancellation, and emergency evacuation limits.
  • Do not assume a standard policy covers every activity just because it is sold to tourists.

Documents

Keep claim evidence practical

  • Save policy schedule, emergency number, receipts, booking terms, ticket proof, baggage tags, airline delay/cancellation notes, medical invoices, and operator messages.
  • Check whether the insurer requires contacting them before treatment, before changing itinerary, or before booking replacement transport.
  • No insurer, product, affiliate, or coverage amount is recommended here.
