Choose bases after the itinerary shape

  • Cairo-first routes usually need a Cairo or Giza base chosen by sightseeing cluster and airport timing.
  • Nile routes need bases around early Luxor/Aswan starts, transfer days, and cruise or rail/flight logistics.
  • Red Sea routes need the airport, resort area, marine activity, and transfer time checked before committing.
  • Do not choose a remote or pretty stay if it makes every pickup, meal, or airport move fragile.

Arrival time

Late arrivals change the best base

  • A late CAI arrival often favors airport-side or simple transfer logistics over a distant scenic base.
  • Early departures may justify a final airport-side night.
  • Hotel check-in, luggage storage, reception hours, and exact address matter as much as neighborhood name.

Neighborhood and resort checks

  • Cairo: Downtown/Tahrir for museums, Zamalek for calmer evenings, Giza for pyramid focus, airport-side for early flights, New Cairo only when the trip is eastern-suburb or airport-heavy.
  • Hurghada and Sharm: compare beach access, reef/activity pickup, family facilities, resort scale, walking distance, and airport transfer.
  • Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan: choose bases around station/airport access, river crossings, early site starts, and evening walking comfort.

Access and family

Ask practical questions in writing

  • Confirm lifts, steps, room floor, bathroom layout, entrance route, parking/drop-off, walking distance, shade, toilets, meal options, connecting rooms, and quiet-room needs.
  • Families should check beds, child policies, pool rules, meal times, luggage storage, and short-transfer options.
  • Accessibility claims must be feature-specific; do not accept vague "accessible" wording without details.

Payment

Payment, cancellation, and red flags

  • Check currency, taxes, service charges, deposit, cancellation deadline, card/cash rules, receipt, and whether payment channel changes unexpectedly.
  • Red flags include unclear exact location, vague access answers, no written check-in process, pressure to pay outside the stated channel, and cancellation terms that cannot be explained.
